IT Support in San Bernardino
San Bernardino runs on freight. The intermodal yard, the air cargo operation at the old Norton field, and the warehousing that fills the I-215 corridor all move goods between trucks, trains, and planes. The IT question here is less about the office and more about everything happening outdoors and in buildings that predate the equipment inside them.
The Two Problems We See Most
Coverage that stops at the wall. Yard operations, trailer staging, and outdoor pick-up points need connectivity that indoor access points were never going to reach. Drivers and yard staff working from handhelds lose signal the moment they step off the dock, so the paperwork gets done twice — once badly on paper, once again at a desk.
Buildings older than the workload. A good deal of San Bernardino's industrial stock was built for a different era of tenant. We regularly find single uplinks doing the work of four, cable runs that predate gigabit, and a network closet sharing a room with something that generates heat. It works until volume rises, and then it fails in ways that look random.
Peak Volume Is A Planning Problem
Freight volume here is seasonal and lumpy. The environment that runs comfortably in March is the same environment carrying twice the transactions in October, with more temporary staff touching it.
That is a capacity and access-management question, and it is much cheaper to answer in advance. We size for the peak, script the seasonal onboarding and offboarding rather than doing it by hand, and make sure the accounts actually get switched off in January. Our new user and offboarding forms exist so that batch work does not turn into a security gap.
